Polishing & Compounding

For a boat hull that has a significant amount of oxidation a rubbing compound is
required. Compounding is a granular liquid paste that will cure and remove most oxidization of the gel coat from the fiberglass. A polishing paste is than needed to remove any minor oxidization, small scratches and/or imperfections on the surface of the gel-coat. The completion of this process reveals the true colour of the boat. For darker and deeper colours (i.e. black, red, blue) a waxing step is highly recommended.

Reveals True Colour

Example of Oxidation
What is Oxidation?

Oxidation is a condition that effects the gel-coat when the sun's UV rays degrade and break down the gel-coat. This oxidation appears cloudy and chalky. If left uncured for several years, this may permanently damaged the gel-coat and an even more excessive repair will be needed.
